It's Blindness Awareness Month!
October is Blindness Awareness Month. According to the World Health Organization, there are 285 million people who are visually impaired worldwide.
Often times, vision loss happens as we get older. As we age, we may develop conditions such as cataracts or macular degeneration. Most people who have visual impairments start losing their sight at around 50 and it gradually deteriorates. Of course, it is important to have regular eye exams to make sure your eyes are healthy! Being proactive and spotting an issues early is very important.
While many people think of blindness as a complete loss of sight, there is a wide range of sight within the community, ranging from a low impairment to complete blindness. What the visually impaired community has in common is that their vision is not fixable by typical means such as glasses. Regardless of their level of impairment, each and every one of these individuals matter, and are capable of living incredible lives. As we as a society continue to progress, we need to keep these individuals in mind to make sure that everyone is included.
Vision Buddy Cares About the Visually Impaired Community
We at Vision Buddy know this. In a world built for sighted people, we know that those who are visually impaired constantly face challenges. This is why we have a product that empowers them to make facing the challenges a little bit easier. Since those who are visually impaired are often left out of the narrative, we hope that our product leads to bridging the gap between sighted and visually impaired.
We want our product to help them do more of the things that they love with ease, whether it be watching television, reading, or more.
The best part? We're just getting started. We aren't going to stop innovating and growing any time soon. We hope that in the future, we'll be able to offer even more products and help even more people. Our aspirations are big, but our passion to help the visually impaired community is bigger.
